Fundación Grupo Mariana was created as a non-profit organization expressly dedicated to fostering growth, self-reliance and sustainability in Nicaragua. The mission of Fundación Grupo Mariana is to “To create and support through education and healthcare a sustainable model of community economic and social development that will improve the lives of local citizens.”
Fundación Grupo Mariana with financial support from Grupo Mariana as part of its corporate commitment to Nicaragua, continues to have a positive influence on the communities that surround its properties and continues to create programs geared toward improving local educational systems, fostering greater English language mastery in the local population, providing funding for computer education and providing enhanced health care options through jobs, training and satellite health care clinics.
Since 2007, Fundación Grupo Mariana began implementing its programs through several initiatives such as health care, education and environment protection. During the past two years, many of these activities were carried out with the coordination of existing child care foundations (such as the Hoy por Mañana Foundation), the Mayor’s Office of San Rafael del Sur, the Mayor’s Office of Leon, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, and other government institutions.
Equally important, Fundación Grupo Mariana has provided financial aid for the repairing of schools and churches in the communities of San Rafael del Sur and Salinas Grandes near city Leon. Furthermore, Fundación Grupo Mariana is actively involved in the creation and contributions of youth sport programs in the cities of Granada, Leon and Managua with the donation of uniforms and sports equipment.
Currently, it is estimated that Fundación Grupo Mariana has benefitted over 1,500 citizens of Nicaragua, mainly young children and teenagers in school with the assistance of relief in their communities. Also, in past emergency situations, Fundación Grupo Mariana has been at the forefront providing immediate assistance and supplies in the case of natural disasters.
In the future, the programs of Fundación Grupo Mariana will be expanded to benefit the communities of Grupo Mariana such as the city of Managua, San Rafael del Sur, Diriamba, Masachapa, Villa del Carmen, Loma Alegre, Granada and others areas of future development with tourism projects in Nicaragua.
Above all, Fundación Grupo Mariana with its staff and supporters plan to lead by example in hopes that many will join its efforts or undertake their own in Nicaragua. The ultimate goal is to transform Nicaragua into Central America’s most admired and respected country where all citizens enjoy healthy and positive lives.
