The article notes that 1.6 million Americans are expected to leave the United States for some form of medical treatment by 2012 and that the cost of care in Central America is at least 25 percent to 40 percent less than in the United States. Grupo Mariana is seeking to establish a partnership with a U.S.-based hospital or university to build the health facility. The clinic will be located on a parcel not far from the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and the hotel to be operated by the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts.
